Raising awareness on mental health at the grassroots

Last week, executive members at Local 527 banded together to raise awareness of mental illness in the workplace. In the lobby of 90 Elgin in Ottawa, where many employees of Finance Canada and Treasury Board Secretariat work, this CAPE Local held an information booth to mark Mental Illness Awareness Week.

CAPE wins important decision concerning parliamentary translators’ terms and conditions of employment

In June 2015, despite the fact that collective bargaining for the renewal of the TR Collective Agreement was well under way, a manager with the Parliamentary Translation Directorate of the Translation Bureau unilaterally decided to alter the terms and conditions of employment of parliamentary translators. As a consequence of this decision, certain translators were deprived of pay supplements and of the choice of work schedules.
