We’ve taken some big steps!
We have elected a big, representative EC Bargaining Committee for when we start bargaining this Fall – a new and more democratic way to do bargaining here at CAPE.
Congratulations to all of you who put your names forward to be part of the committee. There were more than 100 candidates across 26 departments, ensuring that all departments are represented. Eleven seats were acclaimed, while elections were held in 18 departments, for which there were 105 candidates running.
With all of us pulling together, we can win big. I am confident we will arrive at the table equipped not only with solid arguments and creative solutions, but also with the collective power we have all been building up one conversation at a time.
Without further ado…
Meet your Collective Bargaining Committee!

Assisted by staff, your Bargaining Committee will immediately get to work training themselves and deciding together how they will make your bargaining table effective and strategic.
If you want to support your Bargaining Committee, sign up for your departmental Organizing Committee, which will continue to coordinate between the bargaining table and the workplace throughout the bargaining process.
More than 8,000 members completed the bargaining survey – an historic level of engagement that sets us up well as we get set to begin negotiations. Your voice is critical in shaping our strategy. The results of the survey are being compiled, and you will be given a presentation by the Bargaining Committee in June about what members identified and what we will fight for.
Our work has only just begun, but with a Bargaining Committee that is unprecedented in scope and member engagement here at CAPE, and with our organizing getting stronger by the day, we have set the stage for a decisive round of bargaining with the potential to transform our lives for the better.
If you have any questions about the Bargaining Committee and how we will work, feel free to reply to this email and ask. You can also read more about open bargaining here.
In solidarity,
Nathan Prier
CAPE President
