On March 6, 2023, the Treasury Board Secretariat found that there was discrimination and systemic racism at the Canadian Human Rights Commission (CHRC) in a decision issued on a policy grievance filed by CAPE - and similarly by the Association of Justice Counsel (AJC) and Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) - concerning discrimination against Black and racialized employees of the CHRC.

The Library of Parliament bargaining team met the Employer in October for a two-day session and in December for a half-day session.

CAPE is excited to share that we now have digital membership cards available to all registered members. No more worries about losing your card or taking up more space in your wallet.

Thank you to all the members who were able to participate in the 2022 Annual General Meeting (AGM), which was held on Wednesday, November 9. Members had the chance to participate in person or virtually by Zoom.

Discussion on anti-Black racism in the workplace

Issues of importance to TR members were the focus of an introductory meeting between the Canadian Association of Professional Employees and the new chief executive officer of the Translation Bureau last month.

For the first time since becoming a Canadian Labour Congress (CLC) affiliate in 2021, the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) sent a delegation to the CLC Lobby Day.

As mentioned in our previous message, we met with the Employer and the mediator on February 7 and 8, and for an additional half day on the 9th.

We would like to share with you a quick update since the last one in December. CAPE met with the Employer for a mediation session on February 3. The parties were able to discuss and agree on a few outstanding issues.
