Get involved: Volunteer to defend federal employment and benefits!

The newly created Benefits and Employment Defence Sub-committee (BEDS) is looking for volunteers.

Volunteering is a core part of union life and getting involved in a committee or sub-committee affords you a chance to make your union stronger and to influence its future direction.

ABOUT BEDS

BEDS is responsible for working with the National Executive Committee (NEC) to protect and defend members’ employment and benefits.

More specifically, the Sub-committee will be paying special attention to how the government will propose to balance the budget in view of economic recovery, and on how it could impact federal public sector employees, that is, how or whether it could affect pensions, wages, hiring, and automation, among other employment conditions and benefits.

REPRESENTATION MATTERS

To ensure a diverse set of voices and better representation, we strongly encourage members who identify as being from equity-deserving communities, including Indigenous peoples, people of colour, women, people with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQ+ folks to apply. Equally, members representing various races, national or ethnic origins, religions, ages, sex, sexual orientation, marital or family status or genetic characteristics are also strongly encouraged to apply.

Bring your unique voice to the table!

HOW TO APPLY

If you are interested in joining this Sub-committee, please fill out this form.

The deadline to receive your application by COB June 10, 2022.

The form includes an optional section dedicated to equity-seeking groups where you are invited to confirm your belonging to any of the groups listed. The information will be used to help CAPE promote greater diversity amongst committees.
