Call-out for candidate questions

As part of the upcoming National Executive Committee elections, the Elections and Resolutions Committee (ERC) is inviting members to submit questions they would like to see addressed by candidates during the upcoming candidate debates.

We are seeking questions for candidates running for:

  • President
  • Vice-President
  • NEC Director

This is an opportunity for members to help identify the issues, priorities, and questions they believe candidates should address as they seek to represent CAPE’s membership.

In previous elections, the ERC reviewed questions submitted by members and developed questions for candidates based on common and recurring themes. Examples from the 2024–2026 election included questions related to member engagement, transparency and decision-making, union priorities, the use of union resources, return-to-office requirements, and the role of the union between rounds of collective bargaining.

You can review the questions and candidate materials from the previous election here:

2024–2026 NEC candidate information and questions

Please note that the format for this year’s candidate debates and questions may change from previous elections. The ERC will review all submissions and may group, combine or edit questions, or develop questions based on common themes, to support a fair and effective process for all candidates.

Please submit your proposed questions by October 16, 2026.

This deadline will allow the ERC sufficient time to review and vet submissions, identify common themes, and finalize the questions for the candidate debates.

When submitting a question, please indicate whether it is intended for candidates for President, Vice-President, Directors, or all candidates, where applicable.
