SHOW UP FOR PRIDE IN THE NCR!
Pride is around the corner, and CAPE is getting ready to celebrate with colour, creativity, and community!
A strong union is one where every member can participate fully and proudly as themselves. Pride is an opportunity to celebrate our 2SLGBTQIA+ members and to strengthen the solidarity that connects us across our identities, experiences, and workplaces.
As we head into bargaining, that connection matters. Our collective strength comes from members showing up for one another, standing together around our shared priorities, and recognizing that every worker has a place in our union.
Pre-Pride Art Build: Tuesday, August 25, from 4–6 p.m. ET
Registration required. CAPE office. Help us get parade-ready by creating colourful signs and decorations with fellow CAPE members.

LABOUR DAY EVENTS
This Labour Day, join CAPE members and workers across the country as we come together for fair wages, secure jobs and respect at work. With return-to-office in full effect, workforce adjustments underway across the federal public service and bargaining ahead this winter, showing our collective strength matters more than ever.
If you attend an event, be sure to introduce yourself to workers from other locals and unions and learn more about the issues they are organizing around.
In Ottawa, meet the CAPE delegation at City Hall at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, September 7. The march leaves at noon for a free, family-friendly picnic at McNabb Park.
Not in Ottawa? Find an event near you. Check here for activities organized by your local or regional local, which will be added as they are confirmed over the next few weeks.
You can also:
- Contact your local executive to find out what is happening in your area — or whether other CAPE members want to attend an event together.
- Check the website or social media accounts of your local labour council or provincial or territorial federation of labour.
- Talk to PSAC and PIPSC members in your workplace about what they are attending and make plans to join them.
This is also a good time to talk to your PSAC and PIPSC counterparts about what is at stake and how you can support one another in bargaining.
The employer is counting on federal public service workers being divided. Building connections across CAPE locals and with members of other unions helps us support one another—and build more power at the bargaining table.
TAKE IT TO THE TABLE: Essential Services Agreements Education Launch
Coming up mid-September, CAPE will be launching a member education webpage on Essential Services Agreements and what they mean for EC/ESS bargaining.
When workers choose conciliation as their dispute resolution process, the union and employer must negotiate which positions are truly essential to protect public safety or security. But this fight is not about whether EC/ESS work is important. It is about making sure the employer does not use “essential” designations to remove workers from meaningful job action, including work-to-rule, slowdowns, rotating action, pickets, or a strike.
More info on what Essential Services Agreements are and how to protect EC/ESS members from being excluded from job action is coming soon!

CAPE ADVOCATES FOR AN ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE STRATEGY WITH TEETH
CAPE submitted feedback on the government's draft National Strategy Respecting Environmental Racism and Environmental Justice. The CAPE team would like to thank the members who brought this important initiative to our attention.
JOIN AN ORGANIZING COMMITTEE TODAY!
Departmental organizing committees are made up of members just like you: workers who are frustrated with our working conditions and realize that things won’t change unless we build our unity and numbers to the point where the employer cannot ignore us.
Alone, we’re isolated and easier to intimidate.
Together, we are stronger.
Join an organizing committee now!
AGM: SAVE THE DATE!
Mark your calendar! CAPE’s 2026 Annual General Meeting is coming up in November.
Like last year, the AGM will be a full-day event. It will take place on Sunday, November 15 at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for in-person and virtual attendance.
This year’s AGM is all about how you’re going to take it to the table. Join us in November to engage with your fellow members and CAPE’s leadership team about how YOU can leverage that power.
