In 2020, the untimely death of Joyce Echaquan, a 37-year-old Atikamekw mother of seven, was a shocking and tragic reminder of the long line of mistreatment and systemic racism against Indigenous people in public institutions.

“Advancing gender equality for all”

The concept of gender has been continuously evolving and expanded definitions eventually caught up with the Canadian federal public service. For example, since 2017, the Federal Public Service Employee Survey allows for respondents to chose ‘gender diverse’ as an identity option.

2022 EC Collective Bargaining Committee

This spring, CAPE issued a call for volunteers for the EC Collective Bargaining Committee. We have received many applications and the National Executive Committee has approved eighteen members and two alternates in the case the need arises.

2021 OPBO Collective Bargaining Committee

This spring, CAPE issued a call for volunteers for the OPBO Collective Bargaining Committee. We received three applications, and all were approved by the National Executive Committee to form the Collective Bargaining Committee for the 2021 round of collective bargaining.
