Ottawa, May 09, 2025 – Members of the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) belonging to the SP-ESS and SP-TRL classifications, have voted in favour of ratifying the tentative agreement that was reached with the Treasury Board Secretariat in April.
The tentative agreement was ratified by a majority of the vote in favour. Around 400 CAPE members belong to the SP-ESS and 20 belong to the SP-TRL classifications and stand to benefit from the new agreement.
“We want to thank all the members of the CM group (SP-ESS and TRL) who cast their vote over the past two weeks and to our bargaining committee and bargaining team who secured hard-fought gains in this agreement,” said CAPE President Nathan Prier.
The new agreement covers transition measures for CM members (SP-ESS and SP-TRL classifications) and new working conditions covered under the EC and TR collective agreements.
It also includes a memorandum of agreement on the creation of a CM task force to study and make recommendations to improve CM staffing policies and career development.
Next steps
The agreement will be submitted to the Treasury Board for ratification in the upcoming weeks. CAPE will then meet with Treasury Board to include the new provisions in each collective agreement and to sign each collective agreement.
