Callout for volunteers for CAPE’s Member Conduct Roster

CAPE is looking for volunteers to join the 2025-2028 Member Conduct Roster (MCR), pursuant to By-law 5.By-law 5 provides a framework for acceptable conduct and the resolution of disputes between CAPE members. By-law 5 also outlines the process for the handling of complaints of misconduct. 

The MCR consists of 12 members and is established by the National Executive Committee (NEC). The MCR is used to establish three-person Roster Panels, which receive member-to-member complaints under By-law 5 and may be required, among other things, to: 

  • Review individual complaints and determine whether a complaint is screened in 
  • Conduct investigations and reviewing investigation reports, where appropriate 
  • Make recommendations to the NEC based on the findings from an investigation 
  • Maintain confidentiality throughout the complaint process 

The Roster Panels are struck, as needed, and review individual complaints to ensure an unbiased consideration of each case. CAPE’s General Counsel or delegate shall assist and advise each Roster Panel in making decisions that are not arbitrary, discriminatory or in bad faith. 

In establishing the MCR, the NEC will consider the skills and competencies of the candidates, and, where possible, attempt to find balance across regions and groups. 

Qualifications: 

  • Must be a Regular or Pending member 
  • Must not concurrently hold office as President, Vice-President or NEC Director 
  • Ideal candidates will have a keen interest or experience in dispute resolution
