THE EC/ESS BARGAINING CAMPAIGN IS STARTING!

The EC/ESS Bargaining Campaign Is Starting!

As a first step in the EC/ESS bargaining campaign this year, your EC/ESS Collective Bargaining Committee is in Open Bargaining Negotiation training this week! The focus is on consensus decision-making skills, how open bargaining works, and role-playing to practice and consolidate the learning in a real-life scenario. Your committee members will also work on planning, strategy and the development of proposals for negotiations.

Stay tuned for more information coming soon on essential service agreements and what it means for your upcoming bargaining, as well as more information on how various member-led groups work together in bargaining.

Your EC/ESS Collective Bargaining Committee members stand in solidarity with Bank of Canada security officers. They are striking to push back on major concessions the employer is pushing at the bargaining table, including undermining seniority and rolling back maternity leave. These workers show up every day to protect Canada’s financial infrastructure and keep the Bank operational. They deserve a fair deal! Tell your MP: Call on the Bank of Canada to get back to bargaining.

OTTAWA-GATINEAU CLIMATE MARCH AND PETITION

Ottawa- Gatineau Climate March and Petition

Climate March

Join fellow CAPE members and the Ottawa-Gatineau community on September 19 as we gather to send a message to Mark Carney: Stop the Burning – Defend our Climate!

This year we’ve seen forest fires devastate communities in Northern Ontario and British Columbia, a once-in-a-century Canada Day rainstorm in Ottawa, and multiple extreme heat days. With Carney’s cuts to environmental programs in departments like ECCC, NRCan and more, now is the time to demand he make a priority.

Gather from 9:30 am for the march, which departs at 10 am from Jacques Cartier Park in Gatineau. For those wishing to join the march on the Ottawa side, meet at the top of the steps on Mackenzie Ave (at York Street) at 10:30 am. The march will pass by Mark Carney’s office before ending at Ottawa City Hall (100 Laurier Ave W). All are welcome.

CAPE petition

The more members and members of the public who sign the petition, the louder your voice will be in stopping the cuts to Canada's crucial environment and climate programs and workers.

ADD YOUR NAME: No cuts to Canada’s crucial environmental and climate programs!

EQUITY AT WORK AND BARGAINING

Equity at Work and Bargaining

Equity at work isn't just about what's written in a policy. It's about who gets hired, who gets promoted, who gets supported — and who gets left behind.
Right now, we're seeing some serious warning signs across Canada's federal public service.

It's time to sound the alarm.

ALTERNATIVE FEDERAL BUDGET 2026-27

Alternative Federal Budget 2026-27

CAPE contributed to the Alternative federal budget 2026-27 produced by the Canadian Centre for Policy Alternatives. Released yesterday, the document entitled “Bridge to Independence” includes a chapter on the public service that advocates for reversing the Comprehensive Expenditure Review cuts and RTO4 mandate. You can read all of the chapters here.

JOIN AN ORGANIZING COMMITTEE TODAY!

Purple graphic with text that says Sign Up For Your Departmental Organizing Committee

Joining your departmental organizing committee is the best way to get involved in bargaining. They are made up of members just like you: workers who are frustrated with our working conditions and realize that things won’t change unless we build our unity and numbers to the point where the employer cannot ignore us.

Alone, we’re isolated and easier to intimidate.

Together, we are stronger.

Join an organizing committee now!
