Policy Grievance – Settlement Reached Between CAPE and DOJ - 1400 Hours Standard of Legal Services
In 2015 CAPE filed a policy grievance with the Treasury Board Secretariat of Canada (TBS), claiming that the introduction of a minimum target of 1400 hours of legal work per fiscal year for paralegals (ECs) by the Department of Justice Canada (DOJ) was unreasonable and arbitrary in violation of the EC Collective Agreement.

CAPE Policy Grievance – Impacted EC Members Re-credited for Losses Caused by Leave Reconciliation Exercise at DOJ and PPSC
A decision was rendered by the Board in May 2018 and it upheld that the leave reconciliation exercise that took place in the period 2007 to 2012 was unreasonable and an unfair exercise of management’s rights.
