The Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) announced today that a tentative agreement has been reached with the Treasury Board Secretariat for the Economics and Social Science Services group, also known in the federal public sector as the EC group.

As you know, on May 5 I was designated by the National Executive Committee (NEC) to serve as your president until the current term is up on December 31, 2023, and I wanted to reach out to introduce myself.

The Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) met with Treasury Board leadership to discuss interpreters’ health and safety, and racism against Black federal employees – and the ongoing push for permanent solutions.

CAPE wishes to congratulate the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) on having reached a tentative deal for its Treasury Board group members. PSAC’s Canada Revenue Agency members are still on strike and awaiting a tentative agreement.

The TR bargaining team met again with the Employer and the mediator on March 21, 22 and 23. The tone was civil, and the Employer submitted updated versions of its offers on the two remaining contentious issues: remote simultaneous interpretation and wages.
