Reason for Donation:
We are a collective of local executives formally petitioning you in your role as President of CAPE and the National Executive Committee to take what remains of CAPE’s current donation line for this fiscal year and donate the amount to PSAC Local 71250, representing the 42 Bank of Canada security officers in Ottawa currently on strike.
These workers have been on strike since June 23, 2026 and have recently passed 100 days of strike action. In that time, PSAC is still attempting negotiation with an employer who has refused their offers, even going so far as to continue hiring scab workers while their security officers walk the picket line. Since June alone, the Canada Industrial Relations Board has found the Bank of Canada has violated federal anti-scab provisions twice. Even with all of this, these 42 union brethren continue their resolve for a fair deal.
A donation of any amount to the local can provide vital funds for a membership striking for a better future for themselves. These are individuals who are just like us, with families to feed, trying to keep their lights on, and keeping a roof over their head. As CAPE’s bargaining agents begin to negotiate with our employer, it is important to show solidarity to those who are fighting for a better agreement as well. We are all in this fight together.
