PSAC Treasury Board agreement on mental health a promising step forward

CAPE welcomes with great interest the announcement that the Public Service Alliance of Canada (PSAC) and Treasury Board have agreed to establish a joint task force on mental health in the workplace.

“We hope that the work done by this task force could quickly bring about changes in our workplaces”, indicated CAPE President Emmanuelle Tremblay, “and that their recommendations can subsequently be integrated in the collective agreements of the EC and TR groups.”

CAPE and all other federal public service unions had been advised of PSAC’s intention to spearhead this file. PSAC is a recognized leader when it comes to matters of occupational health and safety and mental health, so it is entirely logical for it to assume a central role in these discussions.
