From December 11 to December 20, members were asked to review and vote on CAPE National Executive Committee business: the annual budget; audited financial statements; appointed auditors; and resolutions.

Be it resolved to accept the budget for fiscal years 2017-2018 and 2018-2019, as prepared by management, recommended by the Finance Committee and approved by the National Executive Committee.

Be it resolved to accept the audited financial statements for year 2016-2017, as prepared by management, reviewed by the Audit Committee and approved by the National Executive Committee.

Be it resolved to accept the Executive’s recommendation that the firm of McCay Duff LLP Chartered Professional Accountants be the Association’s auditor for the fiscal year ending April 30, 2018.

Be it resolved that bylaw 5 be changed to include the requirement that any complaints under bylaw 5 being filed by a current NEC member requires the support of two additional NEC members prior to being admissible.

Be it resolved that upon receiving a proposal from [ADD: a member or members of] the NEC, the National Office will place the proposal to amend the Constitution on the agenda of the next monthly meeting of the National Executive Committee (NEC).

The purpose of the amendment is to clarify that the proposal comes from a member or members of the NEC and not from the NEC as a whole.

Be it resolved that By-Law B 4.3 be modified to reflect the following changes: B 4.3 The rebate is paid based on the number EC, TR, or LoP dues-paying employees working in that Local according to the table below:

  • 1 – 25 members:  $500
  • 26 - 50 members:  $750
  • 51 - 75 members:  $1,000
  • 76 - 100 members:  $1,500
  • 101 - 500 members:  $2,750
  • 501 - 1000 members:  $4,500
  • 1001 - 1500 members:  $6,000
  • 1501 - 2000 members:  $8,000
  • 2000 plus members:  $9,000

Be it resolved that the existing Solemn Declaration be amended as proposed:

The word « required » and the sentence « You must send the signed original form to the CAPE National Office» are added.

Be it further resolved that in the existing Solemn Declaration, at section B 11.2, where it refers to clause 18.4, that it be amended to clause 19.4. 

Be it further resolved that in the existing Solemn Declaration, at section B 11.4, where it refers to clause 21.4, that it be amended to clause 22.4.
