CAPE stands with striking provincial employees in British Columbia

Provincial public service workers in British Columba are now in their third week of a strike. Currently, more than 6,000 BCGEU members are participating in job action across the province as they put pressure on their employer to return to the bargaining table with a fair offer.

The union represents more than 34,000 provincial employees who have been without a contract since March. The workers are demanding wages that keep up with the cost of living, a modernized contract, and limits on non-union managers.

Also critical is their push to have language affirming the right to remote work added into the new collective agreement. This will set a new standard for workers everywhere – CAPE stands behind them as they work to raise the bar for us all.
