Earlier this year, CAPE made a submission to the 2026 pre-budget consultations held by the Department of Finance.
CAPE’s seven recommendations address some of our most critical policy and program concerns, including:
- Ending the Translation Bureau’s Special Operating Agency status and making its services free and mandatory across government
- Requiring full transparency in artificial intelligence use
- Requiring any AI tools to be co-developed with workers
- Proactively disclosing the employment equity impacts of federal cuts by department on a monthly basis
- Increasing access to remote work, especially in accommodation requests
- Restore full funding to Health Canada and the Public Health Agency of Canada to help protect fragile provincial health systems
- Calling on the government to commit to prioritizing federal health funding
