Are you a CAPE steward, executive or a health and safety committee member who wants to expand your health and safety knowledge? If that’s you, then join our full-day in-person training session on Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) and Harassment in the Federal Public Service from 9 am to 5 pm ET on May 6. You will be entitled to union leave.
This session will be held in English at CAPE National Office.
This one-day training is designed to help CAPE members understand their rights, responsibilities, and options under the Canada Labour Code and other federal workplace policies. Participants will explore how occupational health and safety applies in real situations, including ergonomics, psychosocial hazards, work refusals, and the role of workplace and policy health and safety committees. The training also provides a practical overview of workplace harassment and violence, including how to recognize harmful behaviour, what employers are required to do, and how members can safely report concerns. By the end of the session, participants will have a stronger understanding of reporting and resolution options (including complaints and grievances), what to expect in investigation processes, protections against retaliation, and available supports.
