MEMBERSHIP BUDGET MEETING

Your voice. Your budget. Your union.
Tuesday, October 6, from 5 to 7 pm ET via Zoom
The annual membership budget meeting is your opportunity to shape the path ahead. This is where members come together to review the proposed budget, raise questions, and provide feedback that directly influences the choices you make together.
The budget isn’t just numbers; it’s an investment by members in your next contract, in the strength of your union and in your ability to win the protections and improvements we all need.
The proposed budget will be presented by CAPE’s Finance Committee, composed of your elected representatives, who ensure the process is accountable to members at every step.

PETITION: STOP THE CUTS TO RECONCILIATION

The federal government has legal responsibilities to First Nations, Métis and Inuit peoples living in Canada. In May 2025, the newly elected government made a promise to “continue the vital work of advancing reconciliation with Indigenous Peoples.”
Now, the Carney government is falling behind on these promises. These cuts will have harmful effects on First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples, including Indigenous federal public servants who deliver these programs and services, many of whom are personally affected by the cuts. This is a choice the federal government is making. It does not have to happen this way.

CAPE JOINS CALL FOR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT TO KEEP HANDS OFF THE RIGHT TO STRIKE

CAPE is joining with other unions and labour organizations across Canada in condemning the federal government’s planned changes to the labour code that will take power away from workers and hand it to their bosses.

INTERNATIONAL TRANSLATION DAY

CAPE marked International Translation Day, September 30, by highlighting the important work of translators, interpreters and terminologists in the federal public service while pressing the Carney government to reverse the damage it has caused to Canada’s bilingualism.
These calls were echoed by Bloc Québécois Whip Yves Perron on Friday, who delivered a statement in the House of Commons (video, transcript) honouring the work of federal language experts and urging the prime minister to stop paying lip service to the French language while dismantling services across the government.
MEMBER ORGANIZER BARGAINING SUMMIT

Recently CAPE's organizing committees participated in and led a Summit ahead of bargaining. Over the three-day event, nearly 60 members joined discussions and planning to build power behind the bargaining demands. Member organizers were joined by members of the Collective Bargaining Committee for this hybrid conference. For the first time, this Organizing Summit was too large to fit in the CAPE offices and was held at the Atelier on the campus of St. Paul's University.

JOIN AN ORGANIZING COMMITTEE TODAY!

Joining your departmental organizing committee is the best way to get involved in bargaining. They are made up of members just like you: workers who are frustrated with our working conditions and realize that things won’t change unless we build our unity and numbers to the point where the employer cannot ignore us.
Alone, we’re isolated and easier to intimidate.
Together, we are stronger.
Join an organizing committee now!
AGM: SAVE THE DATE!

Mark your calendar! CAPE’s 2026 Annual General Meeting is coming up in November.
Like last year, the AGM will be a full-day event. It will take place on Sunday, November 15 at the Delta Hotel in Ottawa. The meeting will be held in a hybrid format, allowing for in-person and virtual attendance.
This year’s AGM is all about how you’re going to take it to the table. Join us in November to engage with your fellow members and CAPE’s leadership team about how YOU can leverage that power.
Stay tuned for more information and registration details!
