Updated COVID-19 Guidance from the Employer

CAPE has been informed of an update to the COVID-19 guidance from the Employer which has been posted to their website. Please note that CAPE and other bargaining agents were not consulted on these changes. If you have any questions, please see your manager.

Translation Bureau failed its interpreters, ordered by Labour Program to take immediate corrective action

The Labour Program ordered the Translation Bureau to take immediate action following its failure to protect the health and safety of its interpreters during online and hybrid meetings. The orders were released on February 1, 2023, almost exactly a year after the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE) filed a formal complaint on behalf of federal interpreters, whom it represents.

TR Negotiations – Final mediation session in February 2023

On February 7 and 8, your TR bargaining team will participate in a mediation session with the Treasury Board, under the supervision of the mediator appointed by the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations and Employment Board.

CAPE/PIPSC open letter: Government's return-to-office policy puts public service at risk

Any return to office policy must “consider the nature of each department’s work and the services they provide to Canadians.” Those are Treasury Board President Mona Fortier’s own words, and we urge her to heed them. Not only at a time when the triple threat of influenza, COVID-19 and respiratory syncytial virus filling up emergency rooms across the country, but when – thanks to this policy and seven years of unacceptable Phoenix pay problems – employee morale is at an all-time low.
