REGISTER TODAY: National Annual General Meeting 2023!

This year marks 20 years since the Social Science Employees Association and the Canadian Union of Professional and Technical Employees joined forces to create the Canadian Association of Professional Employees (CAPE).

CAPE strongly condemns former president’s personal statements

CAPE’s National Executive Committee strongly condemns antisemitic statements made by its former president on his personal social media in years past. The National Executive Committee unequivocally apologizes to any members, staff or the public who are adversely impacted by the statements. CAPE respects the human rights of all its members as set out in the Canadian Human Rights Act, its collective agreements and elsewhere and actively supports and represents its members by advancing these rights on their behalf.

AGM postponed to November 29

A complaint was filed with the Elections and Resolutions Committee (ERC) on November 5, 2023, which could potentially impact the election process. As the ERC requires time to examine the issues raised in the complaint, the Annual General Meeting (AGM) will be rescheduled to November 29th to allow for appropriate time for the ERC to examine the complaint in detail. Pursuant to By-law 3.10, given that the election period is subject to the date of the AGM, the election period will run from November 30th to December 13th, 2023. Details and registration for the new AGM date will be shared later.
