Since joining the Translation Bureau in 2019, I've been Translator Language Advisor and Team Leader in the Aboriginal Affairs, Parks and Heritage Division, and I've had the opportunity to manage the Law team and the International Affairs team on various assignments ranging from one to eight months. I have a good understanding of the various issues that punctuate the day-to-day work of translators and I also know how to establish good communication links and constructive working relationships. My colleagues will also be able to testify to my integrity and determination to resolve irritants.
Prior to that, I worked as a freelance translator, consultant and project manager, mainly in the Aboriginal field, I translated books that were published by various publishing houses, and I worked as a teaching assistant at Laval University. In addition to translation and communications, I've also worked in politics, as a political advisor in the office of the Leader of the Official Opposition and in the office of the Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Solidarity at the Quebec National Assembly. I've lived in various French- and English-speaking environments in Canada, as my father was in the military, and I lived in Germany for many years as an adult. So I have a great capacity to adapt to different environments and cultures.
On a personal level, I'm married with three children in their teens, twenties and thirties. I'm part of the team in the Quebec City office, but I live in a wonderful little village halfway between Quebec City and Trois-Rivières.
Since joining the BT, I've dedicated myself to my work and to improving my skills, but also to improving the working environment and practice for my colleagues and me. My commitment and efforts have not gone unnoticed, as I was a finalist for the Professional Language Award in 2022.
Now that I have been elected Vice-President of the TR Group on the National Executive Committee, I want to put my integrity, my determination, and my ability to analyze issues at the service of CAPE members to renew the NEC's ways of doing things, to ensure unconditional accountability and, ultimately, to improve our working conditions and allow us to grow professionally and personally. More specifically, I want to make it a priority to deal with the issue of interpreters who risk their health every day they work.
