Pinelopi Makrodimitris
EC Director

Since 2018, I have served as a Regulatory Affairs Analyst with Transport Canada. Prior to moving into the government realm in 2018, I was engaged in the practice of law.  I have practiced as a lawyer in both the USA and Canada.

I have experience in the areas of regulatory affairs, wills and estate planning, business law, civil litigation, employment law, not-for-profit organizations, administrative tribunal law, contract drafting and governance. I have taught courses at Carleton University, Algonquin College and Everest College. I am fluent in English and Greek, and I am excited to be learning French.

I obtained my Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Political Science from the University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida.  I obtained my Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from the University of Baltimore School of Law in Baltimore, Maryland; and my Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree from Georgetown University Law Center in Washington, D.C. The focus of my LL.M. degree was in Labour and Employment law.  I have been called to the Bar in the State of Maryland (USA) and the Province of Ontario (Canada).

I have been blessed and fortunate to call Ottawa my home since 2003.  I am married, and my husband and I are the proud parents of an 11 year old daughter. I firmly believe in giving back to our community and supporting charitable initiatives.  For four years, I served on the Board of Directors for the Hellenic Community of Ottawa.  During my last two years I served in the capacity of President.  I was the first woman to be elected President of this organization, which was established in 1929. While on the Board of Directors, I worked with my fellow directors and staff to manage the human and financial resources of the community, to organize and participate in numerous fundraising events to support the community’s initiatives and many worthwhile causes in Ottawa, to ensure the safe and lawful operation of the community’s affairs, and to promote the advancement of the Greek language, Greek culture and the Greek Orthodox Christian faith.  My motivation for serving as a CAPE director now is to work with our union to ensure that all our members’ rights and interests in the workplace are fairly represented and safeguarded.
