My name is Alexis Brabant. I use He/Him pronouns. I’m a Policy Analyst based in Montréal who works at Innovation, Science and Economic Development (ISED). I have been involved in CAPE ever since I joined the federal public service in January 2020. I was initially appointed as a Steward at Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) in 2020, and have since moved to ISED where I am currently the Chief Steward and Treasurer in my local executive.
My union experience dates back to my time at university, where I got involved in organizing and mobilizing my colleagues on social issues such as accessibility, ensuring access to healthcare professionals within the institution, and making sure everyone has equal access to resources to achieve their dream. Organizing requires a thorough and diligent understanding of the rules of assembly to ensure that ideas are formulated into action items.
I would like our union to be resolutely transparent and democratic, and to attract more people from different backgrounds. I believe every new employee should have access to a scheduled orientation session with a rank-and-file member of the union to help them make CAPE their own.
