Working together to build a safety and health culture

Today we reflect on World Day for Safety and Health at Work, as well as the National Day of Mourning for those who have lost their lives at the workplace.

Whether you work in the field or in an office, operate heavy equipment or use a computer, you are exposed to a range of health and safety risks that could affect your physical or psychological well-being.

Building a positive health and safety culture in the workplace is about making sure everyone is sensitized to health and safety risks and working together to create a wholesome and positive environment where those risks are acknowledged, and properly managed.

As we know, the pandemic has brought an onslaught of safety challenges for federal public sector employees. Protection against COVID-19 exposure has been paramount but safe equipment has also emerged as an issue of significant importance for some. Federal interpreters, for example, due to poor equipment have been facing dangerous situations that we, at CAPE, continue to fight to resolve

Let’s act together! Know your rights and join workplace efforts to protect everyone’s lives and wellbeing.
