Become a better advocate for your colleagues: become a stronger steward!

Whether you’re considering becoming a steward, a newbie to the position or a veteran who needs a bit of a refresher, our steward training can help you hone your skills and increase your confidence.

Stewards are indispensable in the workplace. Our work simply wouldn’t be possible without the steadfast support of our volunteers. As a key part of our organization, you’ll act as our eyes and ears in the workplace and ensure your colleagues aren’t treated unfairly.

CAPE is organizing training in English for local leaders and stewards from May 14 to 18 at our offices.

The same courses will be offered in French from May 28 to June 1.

Here are the details for the English courses:

Basic Stewards' Training
May 14 - 15, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

The Basic Stewards’ Training Course is a two-day course that is given to familiarize Association Representatives with the role and responsibilities of CAPE Stewards. It now includes training on mobilization and how to run a Local.

Know Your Collective Agreement
May 16, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This course is a one day course that is given to familiarize association representatives with the collective agreement that applies to their members. There will be EC and TR groups.

Advance Steward's training
May 17 - 18, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

This advance training is a two-day course for stewards who have already done the basic training. This course will include training on workplace harassment, duty to accommodate, performance management and mental health.

Only members who are stewards and local leaders or who have made a commitment to becoming a steward or local leader can take the course.
