Breaking Down Barriers for a More Equal WorldMarch 08, 2020
March 8 marks International Women’s Day, a special moment that affords us an opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come in the pursuit of gender equality in the workplace and in society.
Canada has made some significant progress over the past years when it comes to recruiting and promoting women in the government. So far, we have the highest proportion of female senior civil servants of any G20 country, standing at 46.4 percent. Also, women represent an average of 55.1 percent of the federal public service, which is something we can be proud of.
This year, the global theme for the International Women's Day puts the emphasis on achieving a gender equal world. In order to do that, everyone must do their part.
At CAPE, we continue to take a stand against gender discrimination and inequality. We will continue to work towards breaking down barriers for women to achieve a fair and equitable public service for all.
Today and everyday we celebrate women’s accomplishments and commend all those who go out of their way to champion them and help clear their path to success.
