We have just learned from the Translation Bureau that the simultaneous ratification of several collective agreements at the beginning of 2009 delayed cheque preparation by Public Works and Government Services Canada. However, the Translation Bureau expects that the cheques for the retroactive pay period will be sent out the week of June 8th. In order to issue the cheques in accordance with this schedule, verification of the amounts will be done after the cheques are issued. Consequently, minor increases or decreases for some individuals may be expected. The delay will be longer for exceptional cases. Here are several examples of exceptions that need to be handled manually: leave with income averaging, pre-retirement transition leave, salary protection, maternity and parental leave allowances, rehabilitation leave, and paid educational leave. Please remember that the collective agreement implementation period lasts 150 days and ends on August 5th.
