The complaint filed by CAPE with the Canadian Human Rights Commission, on behalf of TRs, has been settled by mediation through the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal!

April 2, 2009

The representatives of both the employer (Treasury Board and Translation Bureau) and CAPE have settled out of court the complaint* filed by CAPE. This settlement came during a mediation session held on March 27 by a mediator appointed by the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal.

The complaint has been resolved to the satisfaction of both parties. The settlement provides that each member of the TR group, who worked at the Translation Bureau’s Professional Services unit between April 1st, 2004 and April 1st, 2005, will receive two hundred dollars ($200), and this amount will be non-taxable.

The settlement must be approved by the Canadian Human Rights Commission, and this approval is expected in the next thirty days. Once this settlement is approved, CAPE will withdraw its complaint. In turn, the employer will withdraw its application for judicial review filed with the Federal Court, and the members will receive payment.
