TR Bargaining Update
January 13, 2012
On Tuesday, January 10, 2012, in order to resolve the impasse at the TR bargaining table, CAPE made a request to the Public Service Labour Relations Board for the establishment of an arbitration board.

The TR bargaining committee had hoped to reach an agreement in principle at the bargaining table this week. The parties sought to achieve a final solution through combinations of proposals.

2011 ELECTION

September 16, 2011
In accordance with the Translation Bureau Local By-laws, an election is being held to fill the following five (5) positions on the Executive: President, Officer representing Anglophone Translators, Officer representing Interpreters (Parliamentary Interpretation and Conferences), Officer representing EC Employees and Officer representing Francophone Translators (the position currently held by André Picotte). The term of office is two years.

The parties met at the table on June 15th to exchange proposals, and spent the summer analyzing and preparing for discussions that will occur this fall.

Translation Bureau Announces Position Reductions
August 4, 2011
Yesterday, August 3, employees of the Translation Bureau were advised that several positions within the Bureau are to be abolished. CAPE has been provided with the list of employees who may be impacted by this, and will be in contact with them shortly in order to advise them of the mechanisms we have put in place to assist and facilitate in finding an alternate position in the federal public service.

It's just that I was suffering from an acute crisis that in Latin is called tempus fugit, which, combined with a new whim of mine to live by the tenets of socialism (the "Marc" - and not "Marx" - version of this doctrine which holds that that being a socialist means leading an extremely active social life), have stripped me of all my free time. The Financial Incentives Plan Renewed for Two Years

CAPE, the Translation Bureau, and the Treasury Board came to an agreement to renew the Financial Incentives Plan for a two year period, until March 31, 2013. There are several minor amendments to the Plan that do not change the Plan in any way, but serve to clarify certain articles within the Plan.
