Memo : Translators Activity Report – August, 2004
August 24, 2004
As usual, by now you should have received at least one activity report provided by the Translation Bureau. This a requirement pursuant to Article 20(b) of the Financial Incentive Plan, which states that the Bureau shall carry out a monthly recalculation of variables relevant to generated revenues, and shall provide the results of such recalculation to employees in a report.
In view of the substantial increase of 32% of the production threshold (2,67) imposed by the Bureau, and in view of the requirement that the Bureau adequately advise the employee of any discrepancy between the expected performance and the actual performance in order that the employee may adjust their productivity, the accuracy of such data is very important. However, errors and omissions are once again numerous in the reports provided for August, 2004, resulting in an erroneous indication of performance for some employees.
A few weeks from now the first half of the fiscal year, and thus the first half of the reference year for performance assessment purposes, will be over. No serious and adequate measures have been taken to advise employees of the adjustment required to their productivity, where necessary. This same employer, however, seems to have no quarrel about leaving a certain element of doubt regarding the consequences of poor performance…
CAPE has expressed dissatisfaction to the Employer’s representatives in this regard and will continue to do so, in the hope of improvement in the quality of data provided in the next report, which is due in September.
