Memorandum to TR Members
Subject: Ratification Vote
June 15, 2006
To/Aux: CAPE’s TR Members
From/De: Claude Danik, Negotiator
Subject/Objet: Ratification Vote
A call for volunteers went out to the TR membership in September 2004 for the TR collective agreement bargaining committee. After sixteen months of work preparing for the bargaining table and negotiating with the Employer, your bargaining committee reached a tentative agreement, that CAPE and Treasury Board signed on May 25.
The committee is disappointed with the two-year duration of the agreement. However, it must be understood that it worked hard to get the employer to accept a three-year agreement with a respectable third year adjustment to salaries. Unfortunately, the employer’s offer for the third year could only be deemed unacceptable.
Nevertheless, the committee is proud of what was accomplished at the table, and recommends in good faith the tentative agreement. I would invite you to vote in favour of the agreement and ensure that your ballot is received at CAPE
no later than noon, Friday June 23.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the members of the bargaining committee, and in particular the members of the committee that were part of the team at the negotiating table, for their excellent work and commitment to the membership. The following individuals devoted countless hours to what seemed on many occasions a long and challenging process: Carol Card, Suzanne Dumas, Ellen Garmaise, Luc Gervais, Micheline LaSalle, Lionel Perrin, André Picotte and Claude Poirier.
I wish also to thank the staff at CAPE who were most involved in this round of bargaining, Sylvie Richard and Liana Griffin, but most importantly Hélène Paris.
