Donations to Tsunami Disaster Fund
January 11, 2005 The December 26, 2004 Tsunami disaster has been described as an unprecedented natural calamity in modern times. Canadians everywhere have been generously contributing toward alleviating the sufferings of the victims.
As many of you are aware, the Federal Government will match donations from individuals, but not donations from CAPE or other bargaining agents. The deadline for matching donations is midnight tonight, January 11, 2005. Your contributions will be matched if your cheque is issued today, or if your letter is postmarked with today's date.
The Government has increased the number of organizations that you can send your contributions to from 11 to 16 (see the link below for a list of these organizations).
As President, I encourage all CAPE members to make donations and to take advantage of the matching funds.
