Revised Kilometric Rates
November 20, 2006 Effective September 1st, the National Joint Council Executive Committee approved revised kilometric rates, for both the:
• Travel Directive – Appendix B – Kilometric rates
and
• Commuting Assistance Directive – Appendix A – Lower Kilometric Rates.
The kilometric rates will now be reviewed four times a year to better reflect the fluctuations of the price of fuel. E
Employees have until December 31st 2006 to request retroactivity in the application of the rates in the calculation of travel expense claims for authorized government business travel for the period of July 1, 2006 to August 31, 2006.
The Departments have been informed by Treasury Board that they do not have to automatically find and adjust impacted employee travel expense claims or send any Communiqué to inform them.
The onus resides with the employees to request adjustment to already processed claims before December 31, 2006.
The next full review will be conducted throughout the fall and will adhere to the following cycle: January 1 (full review – all factors); April 1 (fuel only); July 1 (fuel only); and October 1 (fuel only).
