Call for Volunteers to Serve on CAPE 2005 Elections Committee

January 21, 2005

The following is a call for volunteers to serve on the CAPE Elections Committee.

Pursuant to the CAPE Constitution, a bargaining unit shall have one Director’s position on the CAPE National Executive for each 1,000 individuals or part thereof. As such the Cape National Executive should be composed of 9 EC (ES and SI) Director positions, 2 TR Director positions and 1 LoP Director position. The CAPE Constitution mandates that elections be held for half of these positions each year.

The existing CAPE By-Laws require that an Elections Committee be established no later than March 15 of the calendar year in which elections are to take place, to oversee the elections process.

According to the CAPE By-laws, this Committee shall include at least one member of each bargaining unit represented by the Association. Members of the Elections Committee shall not campaign in support of or against a candidate. They shall still be able to exercise their individual right to vote.

Any member wishing to express an interest in serving on the CAPE Elections Committee, or wishing to receive further information in this regard, is asked to contact Donna Martin at 613-236-9181, or 1-800-265-9181, or by e-mail at dmartin@acep-cape.ca, no later than 4:30 p.m., February 15, 2005. The current CAPE National Executive will appoint an Elections Committee from among those individuals who have expressed an interest.
