CAPE’s mobilization Committee met on Wednesday, February 17, to further clarify and define the Mobilization Action Plan. This motion engages CAPE in a campaign to mobilize its members concerning the Harper government’s anticipated attack on the pubic service and more specifically the pension plan of its members. We find that it will be impossible to continue providing services to the members as of 2007 without a dues increase. The National Executive Committee (NEC) and the Finance Committee have taken a long hard look at the financial situation of our organization. We find that it will be impossible to continue providing services to the members as of 2007 without a dues increase. Some of our members may have received pay equity settlements during the course of the 1999 - 2000 taxation year. The principal amount received by these individuals is considered to be income, and is therefore taxable.
