Canadians Elect a Conservative Majority,
Put NDP in the Role of Official Opposition

May 4, 2011

The results of the May 2 federal elections put the Conservatives back in power, with a majority. CAPE will be watching closely how federal public service employees will be impacted by the new face of the federal government. With the NDP as Official Opposition, the balance of power has shifted.

“Our three bargaining units begin collective bargaining in the next few months. It will be very interesting to see what, if anything, different this “new” Conservative government will bring to the table,” said CAPE President Claude Poirier.
