RE: The EC Collective Bargaining Committee
Pursuant to Paragraph (i) of By-law 7.1.1, and on behalf of the National Executive Committee, I call for volunteers from the membership of the EC bargaining unit for the purpose of establishing a bargaining committee.
According to the By-law, the call for volunteers must be made no later than 3 months 6 months prior to the earliest date for notice to bargain. It must be made no later than November 21.
The names of volunteers will be presented to the National Executive Committee (NEC) for approval, as stipulated by Article 13.2 of CAPE's Constitution.
Volunteers must submit their reasons for wanting to be member of the committee (see B7.1.1(iii)).
The NEC will chose the members of the committee according to the criteria identified in Paragraph B7.1.2 of the By-Laws.
We ask that volunteers send their name as well as their reasons for serving on the committee to the attention of Liana Griffin at the national office no later than:
Noon; Monday October 24, 2004.
I invite the EC local leaders to share information regarding the committees with the EC members that they represent. The memorandum that you are reading will be posted on the CAPE web site no later than Tuesday, October 11.
I remind you that the responsibility of negotiator belongs to the President of the Association, José Aggrey (Constitution, Paragraph 9.2). The President may delegate the responsibility to a Vice-President, to a member of the National Executive Committee or to a member of the Association's management (see Constitution, Paragraph 9.12).
