EC Bargaining – Meetings on May 27th, 28th and 29th
June 19, 2008
The EC Bargaining Team tabled the first part of its pay analysis at this last bargaining session. The pay analysis consisted of recent wage settlements, economic indicators, internal relativity with other groups in the federal public service, and direct comparisons with the same classifications at the Canada Revenue Agency. The second part of the analysis which will focus on salary comparisons with the private sector will be presented at the bargaining table on July 2nd. The new EC classification standard will be used to establish proper job matches. The pay proposal will also be tabled on July 2nd and will include a restructuring of the pay scales. The pay proposal will address several problems including the need to negotiate ES and SI pay scales for the period stretching from the expiry date of the previous contract to the date of the conversion some time after a new agreement is signed, and EC pay scales for the period that will follow the conversion.
Aside from the pay analysis, almost all of the non-monetary proposals have been resolved at the table. Remaining monetary proposals include leave proposals such as vacation leave and travelling time.
