EC Bargaining – February 6th, 7th and 8th Meetings with the Employer

February 22, 2008

Bargaining of the EC collective agreement resumed on February 6th, 7th and 8th. The parties had scheduled to meet on December 17, 18 and 19 and January 22, 23 and 24, but the Employer requested a postponement because research on their part was needed on several of the issues discussed at the table.

We are pleased to report that the Employer was well prepared to talk about almost all of the proposals outstanding and progress was made on several of the proposals that are non-monetary in nature. Both parties recognize that monetary proposals (e.g. vacation leave, overtime compensation) are tied to the overall pay package and will be discussed once the data base for the EC conversion is made available to both Treasury Board and CAPE by the Canada Public Service Agency and once the parties have had sufficient time to analyse the data. It is our understanding that the database will be available some time in the next few weeks.
